The Saratoga Lions Are Launching Something New — And You're Invited





If you've ever opened ChatGPT or Claude, typed something in, and thought "that's not quite what I meant" — you're not alone. Most people who try AI tools walk away feeling like they're missing something. The truth is, they are. Not because AI is too complicated. But because nobody showed them how to use it.

That's about to change.

Introducing the Saratoga Lions Speaker Series

The Saratoga Lions are proud to launch their brand-new Speaker Series — a monthly community gathering bringing together local speakers and neighbors for an evening of learning, conversation, and connection. Each month, a speaker from the community will present on a topic relevant to the Lions' mission of service, education, and community well-being.

And we're kicking things off with a topic that couldn't be more timely.

The First Event: "Essential AI Tips That Most People Don't Know"

On Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at 6:00 PM, local AI enthusiast and community member Mel Engstrom will share four practical techniques that will fundamentally change the way you work with AI tools — no matter what you use them for.

This isn't a talk about technology. It's a talk about communication — specifically, how to communicate with AI the way you'd communicate with a really smart, capable assistant. Clearly, with context, and with the ability to course-correct along the way.

Here's a preview of what Mel will cover:

🔹 "Are We on the Same Page?" — A simple technique to make sure AI understands your task before it starts, so you catch misunderstandings in seconds instead of minutes.

🔹 "The Stepping Stones" — How to ask AI to map out a full plan before you begin, giving it the full picture of your goal from the very start — and why that makes every result dramatically better.

🔹 "Pass the Mic" — How to flip the script and let AI ask you the questions, turning it into a true thinking partner rather than just a tool you query.

🔹 "The Chef's Taste" — How to refine any AI output the same way a chef seasons a dish: more of this, less of that, until it's exactly right.

We didn't receive as many signups as we had hoped, which is completely understandable given this busy season filled with graduations, weddings, and vacations.

No worries at all!  We're already working on scheduling another date and look forward to coming together soon to create magic for children facing difficult times.

Join Us for the Magic Yarn Project – June 7 at the Saratoga Senior Center!

The Saratoga Lions are excited to host a Magic Yarn Project volunteer event on Sunday, June 7, from 2:00–4:00 PM at the Saratoga Senior Center. This heart‑warming project brings volunteers together to create soft, whimsical yarn wigs for children undergoing cancer treatment — a simple act of kindness that brings comfort, confidence, and joy.

💛 What We’ll Be Doing

Volunteers will help assemble and embellish princess and superhero‑themed yarn wigs. No crafting experience is needed — just a willingness to help and a warm heart. All supplies will be provided.

👨‍👩‍👧 Who Can Participate

Everyone is welcome! Families, teens, seniors, first‑time volunteers — this is a gentle, creative, community‑building activity perfect for all ages.

Saratoga Lions Hosts Chamber Mixer

The Saratoga Lions were proud to host the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce Monthly Mixer on Tuesday, May 20, from 5–7 PM. The event brought together local business owners, community leaders, and neighbors for an evening of connection, conversation, and collaboration.

Guests were greeted by members of the Saratoga Lions, who shared the club’s mission of flexible, modern, community‑driven service. The mixer offered a relaxed space for attendees to meet new people, strengthen partnerships, and learn more about the Lions’ ongoing projects in Saratoga.

Inviting all women to attend an intimate, elegant garden tea with hearty hors d’oeuvres at Hakone Gardens, inspiring women through meaningful conversation, leadership, and connection. The evening includes featured speakers, networking, a service project assembling summer camp kits for unhoused children served by LifeMoves.org, and mindfulness/self-care stations throughout the gardens to help us nourish ourselves as we care for others.

Visioning Corner Pause, breathe, and get clear. Guests are guided through a simple visioning practice, reflecting on what they’re releasing and what they’re ready to receive, and leave with something written in their own hand to take home.

Nervous System Reset A permission slip to just… land. Rooted in Positive Intelligence and mental fitness, this short experience uses breath and grounding to quiet the noise and bring guests back to center.

Sound Moment In a garden setting, sound heals differently. Guests drop in, close their eyes, and let the vibration of live sound instruments move through them. No doing, no thinking, just receiving.

There will be three, 25 minute sessions held for each of the three areas. Start times are 5:30 pm, 6:00 pm, and 6:30 pm. Each session has a maximum capacity of 15 people.


Participants may choose to create a vision board to promote Mental Wellness by incorporating items like the ones outlined below.

Key elements for a Mental Wellness Board

  • Affirmations and Quotes: Phrases that promote self-love, resilience, and calm.
  • Calm Imagery: Nature scenes, cozy spaces, or images representing peace.
  • Self-Care Actions: Reminders for habits like exercise, sleep, hobbies, and therapy.
  • Positive Relationships: Pictures of family, friends, or memories that bring joy.
  • Goal Setting: Visualizations of overcoming anxiety, depression, or burnout.

Presented by Women in Lions, this Symposium and Garden Tea Party is open to – and designed to benefit – all women in the community.

Proceeds support Women in Lions community service projects and future programs aligned with our mission to serve.
